CNC machining allows customers to have a prototype produced out of the real material instead of a photopolymer or polyamide simulant. From nylon to aluminum, Ivy Prototype specializes in creating the highest quality CNC machined parts at low cost to the customer. CNC machining is typically used for projects with 50-100 sets of components, as a simulant material is not sufficient for those types of applications.
CNC parts and prototypes are ideal for situations where production materials are required. CNC parts can be made from our standard materials or your custom specified material. CNC prototypes are ideal when the part is subjected to demanding functional tests, or the physical size of the parts make other prototyping methods cost prohibitive. Ivy Prototype’ CNC operations can take on both small and large jobs, with single cut envelopes up to 8′ x 10′ x 4′.
Materials
Plastics: Ivy Prototype can manufacture CNC machined prototypes out of the following high-quality materials, among others:
PMMA (Lucite Acrylic), PC, ABS, POM (Delrin), PTFE (Teflon), Ultem, Nylon
Metals: We can also machine metals by using heat-shrink cutter holders for our high-speed spindles to ensure cutting accuracy. Common metals used for CNC prototypes include:
Aluminum, Copper-based materials, Tool steel
